Responsibilities of the Grants officer
• Grant officer identifies funding sources and analyses the specific research areas and interests of faculty members to provide information regarding external funding opportunities, advises faculty regarding grantmanship
• Assist faculty and staff in proposal development and preparation by interpreting agency philosophy, polices, regulations and guidelines
• Review and approves all sponsored proposals for the company
• Supervises work of grants specialists
• Independendantly negotiates research and other contracts on the behalf of the company
Education and Experience
• A minimum of bachelor’s degree in any business affiliated programs
• Extensive experience in the area of grant/contract negotiations and in central research administration
Knowledge, skills and ability
• Extensive knowledge of the methods, procedure and techniques used in grant preparation, coordination and implementation
• Considerable knowledge of institutional policies and procedures pertaining to external funding
• Ability to participate in the evaluation and analyses of existing technique and procedures and to assist in devising new techniques
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and university personnel, state and federal agencies and private organizations.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Ability to supervise the work of others
• Ability to prepare and deliver informational
